ABOUT ME
I am a high-level Lacrosse athlete and I’ve always had a passion for sport and art. Women suffer sports injuries more often than men, and the risk of injury increases during menstruation. More than four in five (84%) teenage girls say their interest in sport diminished after starting their period, and almost one in four (23%) say they feel embarrassed to take part in physical activity during their menstrual cycle (Nuffield Health, 2023).
I aim to explore the connections between sports, art, and science, highlighting their similarities and differences to encourage others to appreciate both. Through my art, I want to raise awareness about injuries in sports, including their physical and mental impacts.
I believe my art offers a powerful medium for communicating complex concepts to a broader audience. For example, I depict the intricacies of muscle fibres and the visual damage of injuries, aiming to stimulate understanding and empathy.
One aspect I want to explore further is the impact of the menstrual cycle on injury risk, especially for women and girls in sports. This is often overlooked but significantly affects performance and well-being. Through art, I hope to shed light on this important issue and break the stereotypes surrounding it.
In the photograph below I am number 23 the goalkeeper and below is a gallery of works showing my relationship with sport through art.

Artworks
These artworks were produced during my undergraduate Fine Art degree.
This includes a series of sculptures depicting the competitive element of sport with 1st, 2nd and 3rd podiums showing what it takes to be an athlete, including higher muscle mass, knowledge about nutrition and the impacts of success. The other side shows memorabilia from other athletes relating to success including medals.
