Photovoice: Miss Ford

This is Lucy Ford's story. Lucy is a School teacher and plays midfield in field lacrosse and also offence in box lacrosse. I've played with Lucy for over 10 years. I asked Lucy to take photographs of objects, surroundings and injuries that she has encountered that reflects her experiences as a female athlete. Each photograph is supported with a short statement explaining the image and how she feels at the time or when she remembers it. I then created Cyanotypes based on the photographs.

Lucy's response to them "Wowww these look so cool!! The cyanotype effects give them this dreamy, almost nostalgic feeling, like they’re not just photographs but fragments of memory. It’s as if the blue tones soften the reality of the moments, making even the intense ones—like the ice bath—feel like part of a shared story rather than just an isolated event. OMG, the ice bath one especially… I was literally dying, but now it’s frozen (pun intended) in this hazy, beautiful way."
